Barnesville Elementary School has achieved academic success through clear goals, sound basic education, management of academic performance, an orderly and safe learning environment, and high expectations for students and staff.
Barnesville Elementary School houses students in grades preschool through grade 4 with approximately 600 students. Classrooms are self-contained; however, students in grade 4 have the opportunity to change classes for certain subjects. Music, Gym, Art, and Library are offered and Title Services to satisfy the needs of at-risk students in reading. The elementary school utilizes STAR testing as a diagnostic tool to identify students that may require intervention. All students in grades K-4 are instructed through an orton gillingham based phonics program called Wilson Fundations. This program provides a strong reading foundation for all students.
Barnesville Preschool has been awarded a Five Star rating for the past 5 years. The preschool operates daily with 4 - ½ day sessions. The morning session runs from 7:45 – 11:00 a.m. and the afternoon session runs from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. Eligible students must be 3 or 4 years of age. The preschool operates a combined classroom of Early Childhood Education students and Preschool Special Education students.
Barnesville Elementary School offers after-school tutoring to students in grades K-4. Students in grades 1-4 are provided tutoring services Monday – Thursday, from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. and kindergarten students on Tuesdays and Thursdays only. A snack is offered to all tutoring students.
